While I disagree that tax should be charged for out of state sales, I do think that eventually there will be tax in a few years on all sales within the US regardless of state. I feel that even though the tax break is nice, you still have to pay shipping which can sometimes compensate for that lack of tax that is being paid. I ask that if there is going to be a tax put on out of state sales that they either team up with the USPS to make some sort of deal so paying both won’t be so bad, or they make a much lower tax just for sales over the Internet. Maybe a 2% tax so that its not as bad as state tax, but can also help return people to shopping in retail stores a bit more so the money stays local. Hopefully I get my next laptop before this goes forward which i think in a few years it will.

Amazon.com is threatening to cut ties with affiliates in any states that decide to collect sales tax, CEO Jeff Bezos said yesterday.
“We will continue to drop states who pass those affiliate laws, from the affiliate program,” Bezos said at the ShopSmart Shopping Summit in New York, according to Reuters.
